Der Workshop zum Thema „Labelling Artists in Exile“ befasst sich mit Kunstwerken, die in einer Ausstellung von Künstler*innen gezeigt wurden, die in Deutschland im Exil leben. Die Ausstellung trug den Titel „Neue Räume / Neue Perspektiven“ und wurde in Essen und Berlin gezeigt in den Gebäuden der Stiftung Mercator (Förderer).

Gemeinsam werden wir uns die Arbeiten fünf junger Künstler*innen – Huda Takriti, Jeanno Gaussi, Tewa Barnosa, Ala Hamameh und Mohammad Zaza – ansehen und uns fragen, wie wir ihre Arbeiten vor dem Hintergrund der Fragestellungen zum Thema „Labelling Artists in Exile“ sehen.

This workshop by the non-profit organisation Wir Machen Das examines an exhibition by artists Huda Takriti, Jeanno Gaussi, Tewa Barnossa, Ala Hamameh and Mohammed Zaza. [Workshop in German]

The workshop examines the theme of “labelling artists in exile” by looking at visual art pieces that were shown in an exhibition of artists living in the diaspora in Germany. The exhibition was titled „New Spaces / New Perspectives“ and was shown in Essen and Berlin in the spaces of the Mercator Foundation (its principal funder).

Together, we will look at the work of five young artists – Huda Takriti, Jeanno Gaussi,Tewa Barnossa, Ala Hamameh and Mohammed Zaza – and ask ourselves how we view their work in light of the questions surrounding “labelling artists in exile”.
