The first of three workshops by Wir Machen Das will examine the phenomenon of exile labelling. [Workshop in English]
For artists living in exile, dealing with new living conditions often raises existential questions: Who am I here in this country? How do I see myself and my art? How does the view of the local society determine my existence as person and artist? Dima Al-Bitar Kalaji (editor and co-curator at „Weiter Schreiben“), Caroline Assad (managerial director of Wir Machen Das), Ghayath Almadhoun (poet and former scholar of DAADʼs “Berliner Künstlerprogramm”) and Farah Barqawi (author and cultural curator) have to deal with exile labelling in their texts and in their experience with other authors, audiences and the press. They will share insights and invite participants to discuss and share their experiences as well.
This is the first workshop in a series of three organised by Wir Machen Das. The other workshops are called “Exhibition Review: New Spaces / New Perspectives” and “Details That Deserve None Of Your Attention”.
